Help
Here are a few of the most commonly asked non-ticketing questions we get asked.
Helping to engage the public in amateur racing is one of the reasons Midlands Pointing exists, so please feel free to contact us if you have other questions which we do not cover here.
Do children have to pay to get in?
No, all Midlands Area courses allow under-16s in free of charge.
Is there a disabled car park?
Parking areas with less-abled access vary from course to course.
The best thing to do is to contact the Secretary for the meeting you are planning to attend and see if they can arrange something for you. This can be done by going to the fixture’s page (click the fixture below, or in the menu above) and using the contact details at the top.
What time does racing start?
This varies from meeting to meeting but will normally be advertised on the separate meeting pages under the “Fixtures” menu item.
In general meetings at the start of the season will have their first race at 12pm, 12.30pm or 1pm. After the clocks change racing normally begins at 2pm.
If there is pony racing at a meeting this will normally start at 12.45pm or 1pm.
Is there a bar? Bookmakers?
All of the Midlands meetings provide a bar and catering stands are also available.
Bookmakers are always available at Midlands Area meetings, although the number varies from course to course and depending on dates of other meetings around the country.
Can I take photos?
You are very welcome to bring your camera and take photos or video on the day.
However it is important to note that all courses are on private land and the land owner controls the rights to photography. This means an official photographer is often contracted to provide images to competitors.
All unofficial photography MUST be for personal use only and may not be sold for profit or given away on social media under any circumstances.
Please see our photography policy for more information.
Can I bring my dogs?
Dogs are very welcome at all our courses but should be kept on a lead at all times, even when walking the course before racing begins.
