Best-Turned-Out A prize will be given to the Groom of the best-turned out horse in each race.

The four Point To Points at Garthorpe are sponsoring a Top Horse Competition over the coming 2025/26 season. They are putting up £2,000 which will be divided up giving the most successful horse £1000, the second, £650 and the third £350.

Points will be awarded to individual horses for each race as follows; First 10; Second 8; Third 6, Fourth 2; Also Ran 2. For a Walk Over a horse will be awarded 5 points. The winning horses’ connections will be presented with their cheques following the Quorn Point-to-Point on Saturday 25th April.

The other 3 Point-To-Points at Garthorpe are the Cottesmore on Sunday 23rd November, the Melton Hunt Club on Sunday 1st February and the Belvoir on Saturday 21st March.

Horse Races (12pm)

Race 1: The five years old and over Melton Hunt Club CONDITIONS Race (Level 2), 3m, 12st

For the GENERAL PAYNTER CHALLENGE CUP and Mementoes to the winning Owner & Rider
PRIZE MONEY: 1st £200, 2nd £120, 3rd £90. Total Prize Fund £410
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses aged five years and over only, which on or since 1st October 2022 have not won any race under the rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted).
PENALTIES: For each win on or since 1st October 2022 in a Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point to carry 5lb extra, and for each win in a Conditions race at the same Level or higher (to include Confined, Club Association, Service or Society Point-to-Point races) in this period to carry 3lb extra. Maximum penalty to be carried is 10lb. Penalties are cumulative.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses which are Maidens aged four and five years old only that have not run in any race under rules of any Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted); to be run over approximately two-and-a-half miles.

For the HARRY BENYON CHALLENGE CUP and Mementoes to the winning Owner & Rider

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses which have won up to 2 Conditions/Intermediate races of which only one may be an Intermediate race.
PENALTIES: A previous winner of an Intermediate race or Conditions race at any Level, to include Confined, Club Association, Service or Society Point-to-Point races (Maiden, Restricted and Hunt races excepted) to carry 5lb extra. Maximum penalty to be carried is 10lb. Penalties are cumulative.

Race 4: The MENS OPEN Race, 3m, 12st

For the HENRY WATERFORD CHALLENGE CUP and Mementoes to the winning Owner & Rider
PRIZE MONEY: 1st £225, 2nd £170, 3rd £125. Total Prize Fund £520
ALLOWANCES: Riders who, prior to the Thursday before the date of this Point-to-Point Steeplechase, have not ridden more than 5 winners under the Rules of Racing or the Rules of a recognised Racing Authority, Point-to-Point Steeplechases or Arabian Horse Races; 5lb.
PENALTIES: A winner on or since 1st October 2022 to 30th September 2023 inclusive, of three or more eligible Steeplechase, Hurdle Race or Flat Races under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) OR a winner of two eligible Steeplechase, Hurdle Race or Flat Races under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) and one or more Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point race in this period, to carry 5lb extra.
