The Cottesmore Point-to-point will be on 23rd November 2025 at Garthorpe racecourse, just East of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. Six races start at 12pm.

Owners will be given invitations to the hospitality area on declaration.

THE GARTHORPE BONUS

The four Point To Points at Garthorpe are sponsoring a Top Horse Competition over the coming 2025/26 season. They are putting up £2,000 which will be divided up giving the most successful horse £1000, the second, £650 and the third £350.

Points will be awarded to individual horses for each race as follows; First 10; Second 8; Third 6, Fourth 2; Also Ran 2. For a Walk Over a horse will be awarded 5 points. The winning horses’ connections will be presented with their cheques following the Quorn Point-to-Point on Saturday 25^th April.

The other 3 Point-To-Points at Garthorpe are the Cottesmore on Sunday 23^rd November, the Melton Hunt Club on Sunday 1^st February and the Belvoir on Saturday 21^st March.

Horse Races (12pm)

Race 1: Four and Five years old MAIDEN Race, 2m 4f, 12st (SF 16)

For the GARTHORPE UNITED HUNTS CLUB MEMBERS SALVER and mementoes to the winning Owner and Rider. Mementoes to the winning owner and rider.

PRIZE MONEY: 1st £300, 2nd £120, 3rd £80. Total Prize Fund £500.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses which are Maidens aged four and five years only.

Race 2: The Ladies CONDITIONS Race (Level 2), 2m about 4f, 11st

The EASTERN TRAIL PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY for the owner of the 1st horse past the post. Mementoes to the winning owner and rider.

PRIZE MONEY: 1st £400, 2nd £200, 3rd £100. Total Prize Fund £700

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:To be ridden by Ladies; to be run over approximately two-and-a-half miles.

ALLOWANCES: Riders who, prior to the Thursday before the date of this Point-to-Point Steeplechase, have not ridden more than 10 winners under the Rules of Racing or the Rules of a recognised Racing Authority, Point-to-Point Steeplechases or Arabian Horse Races; 5lb.

PENALTIES: For each win on or since 1st October 2025 in a Steeplechase or Hurdle race under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) to carry 7lb extra; for each win in a Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point in this period to carry 5lb extra, and for each win in a Conditions race at the same Level or higher (to include Confined, Club Association, Service or Society Point-to-Point races) in this period to carry 3lb extra. Maximum penalty to be carried is 10lb. Penalties are cumulative.

Race 3: The Jockey Club 0-110 RATED Series Race, 3m, 12st

For the YOUNG SPARTACUS PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP to the owner of the 1st horse past the post. Mementoes to the winning owner and rider. The Thwaites Cup to the 1st Cottesmore rider past the post who has not ridden more than 10 winners under any racing authority, including point to points.

PRIZE MONEY: 1st £400, 2nd £200, 3rd £100. Total Prize Fund £700.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses with an official (GB) or (IRE) handicap jump rating, whose lifetime (GB) or (IRE) jump handicap rating has never been greater than 110. Winners qualify for Hunter Chase series final and are no longer eligible for further races in the series.
ALLOWANCES: Riders who, prior to the Thursday before the date of this Point-to-Point Steeplechase, have not ridden more than 10 winners under the Rules of Racing or the Rules of a recognised Racing Authority, Point-to-Point Steeplechases or Arabian Horse Races; 5lb.
PENALTIES: None. A win in the series will count as a Restricted win for future penalty purposes.

Race 4: The Saffrey Mixed Open Race, 3m, 11st7lb

For the R M BOURNE PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP for the owner of the 1st horse past the post. The NAUTICAL LAD PERPETUAL TROPHY For the 1st male rider. The LADY TATE PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP For the 1st female rider. The perpetual silver hound trophy for the owner of the 1st Cottesmore qualified horse. Mementoes winning owner & rider. PRIZE MONEY: 1st £500, 2nd £200, 3rd £100. Total Prize Fund £800

PENALTIES: A winner on or since 1st October 2024 to 30th September 2025 inclusive, of three or more eligible Steeplechase, Hurdle Race or Flat Races under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) OR a winner of two eligible Steeplechase, Hurdle Race or Flat Races under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) and one or more Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point race in this period, to carry 5lb extra. Further penalties apply for wins on or since 1st October 2025 in an eligible Steeplechase or Hurdle race under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) or in a Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point; for one such win 3lb extra; for two such wins 5lb for three or more such wins 7lb; maximum total penalty to be carried is 7lb.

Race 5: Restricted, 3m, 12st

For the GUY FENWICK PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP for the owner of the 1st horse past the post. Mementoes to the winning owner and rider.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses which at starting have not won any Race under the Rules of any Recognised Racing Authority other than National Hunt Flat races or Flat races, or any Point-to-Point Steeplechase other than Maiden Races, Hunt Members Races or no more than one Restricted race.

PENALTIES: A previous winner of a Restricted race to carry 5lb extra.
